Wolves transfer news: Emmanuel Agbadou 'expected to attend' Nottingham Forest fixture

'Incoming signing' expected to attend Wolves, Forest Premier League clash

Wolverhampton Wanderers may reportedly be able to unveil Emmanuel Agbadou as a new signing on Monday night.

Ever since Yerson Mosquera suffered a season-ending knee injury in September, it has been no secret that Wolves would attempt to acquire at least one new centre-back during the January transfer window.

New head coach Vitor Pereira has publicly acknowledged that the club are working diligently to try to get a fresh face to Molineux as soon as possible.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Wolves were pressing ahead with the acquisition of Reims defender Agbadou after his impressive performances in Ligue 1.

Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot has already commented on the matter, saying: "The two clubs have reached agreement. Same thing for the player.

"All he has to do is pass his medical and sign his contract. Wolverhampton's offer couldn't be refused."

What are Wolves paying for Agbadou?

A number of reports have indicated that Wolves will be committing to a deal in the region of £16m to sign the Ivory Coast international.

According to John Percy of The Telegraph, who was commenting on X, the 27-year-old is expected to be in attendance when Wolves face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Monday night.

As it stands, it is unclear whether the West Midlands outfit will formally announce the transfer or whether Agbadou will remain in the stands.

Since arriving at Reims in 2022, Agbadou has made a total of 80 appearances, contributing with three goals and four assists in all competitions.

Prior to him being left out of the squad for the 3-1 defeat to Saint-Etienne on Saturday, Reims had conceded 18 goals in 15 Ligue 1 fixtures.

Agbadou to slot straight into Pereira's defence?

Wolves earned a spirited 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur in their last fixture, netting a late leveller to secure a share of the spoils.

With Toti Gomes injured for a number of weeks, Wolves started with a back three of Matt Doherty, Craig Dawson and Santiago Bueno.

That will remain the case for the showdown with Forest, but Agbadou could be drafted into the first XI for Saturday's FA Cup third round tie at Bristol City.

His last competitive appearance came on December 22, meaning he should be deemed match fit upon his likely arrival.
