Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking close to new deal

Wolfsburg director of sport Klaus Allofs has claimed that coach Dieter Hecking will sign a contract extension with the club.

The 50-year-old has one year remaining on his current deal at the Volkswagen Arena.

Hecking joined Wolfsburg in 2012 and guided the side to a second-placed finish in the Bundesliga table last season.

"I don't know if we're going to get it done in time for the start of the season, but Dieter Hecking is going to extend his contract with us," Allofs told Kicker.

Wolfsburg will start the new Bundesliga campaign at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on August 15.
