Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has urged his side to get off to a good start in the new Premier League season in order to avoid a relegation battle.
The Latics narrowly avoided the drop again last season thanks to a late surge up the table.
"The ultimate aim for us is to carry on in this league," said Martinez. "Eight seasons in this league is a dream and August for us is a more significant month because we need to start stronger."
Wigan begin the new campaign at home to Chelsea on Sunday.
