Millwall's goalkeeper David Forde was the first to be called into action to hold on to Callum McManaman's swerving shot before getting up to keep out Arouna Kone's low strike.

Forde was beaten 10 minutes later, however, as Kone dribbled past two men to square for Maloney, who fired into the net from just inside the area.

The match entered a bit of a lull until Forde was called into action again just before the break to deny Gomez's curling effort.

In the second half Callum McManaman skinned two players but went for goal himself instead of rolling across to Kone for an easy tap-in.

Danny Shittu had a half-chance in the box from a corner but nodded his header over the bar instead.

Then with just over 10 minutes left to play Wigan made sure of their place in the final with McManaman skipping past Forde to slot the ball in for 2-0.

Millwall were unable to create further chances and for them the FA Cup journey ended just short of the final.
