Tomi Juric netted twice to give the Western Sydney Wanderers a 2-1 victory over Adelaide United, resulting in their first home win of the A-League season.
The home side had an early chance to take the lead through a free kick, which swung into the box to find the head of Nikolai Topor-Stanley. His effort headed towards the bottom left corner of the goal, but Adelaide goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic dropped to his side to clear the danger.
Following a few waves of attack from the Wanderers, the visitors had a chance to string a move together, which resulted in the ball being laid off to Marcelo Carrusca, but as the midfielder approached the box, his chance was snuffed out by the Wanderers' defence.
The hosts began to pile on the pressure as Juric launched a strike at goal, but the keeper managed to punch the ball away, and was forced into action seconds later when Brendon Santalab picked up the rebound, but his effort came to nothing.
Ten minutes into the second half, Adelaide took the lead with a tap-in from Marcelo Carrusca after a deflected shot from Jeronimo Neumann bounced in front of the midfielder, who was onside as he rolled it into the back of the net.
Wanderers began to pile on the pressure after conceding, and their efforts paid off when Juric responded by finding space on the edge of the area and taking a shot with his right foot, which glided into the bottom right-hand corner of the net to level the scoreline.
The home side continued to bang on the door, and they were eventually rewarded with their second from a swinging cross from Jerome Polenz.
The ball found Juric inside the box and the forward secured his double by hammering his effort downwards into the bottom corner of the net to give his side the lead and the win.
