Sam Allardyce is interested in Joey Barton?

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is reportedly interested in signing Joey Barton.

Allardyce signed Barton when he was manager of Newcastle United and is willing to give him another chance to play in the Premier League.

According to The Express, Barton would jump at the chance to return to England's top flight.

He spent last season on loan at Marseille, but despite insisting that he would not play for Queens Park Rangers again, Barton has started both of their games in the Championship this season.

The 30-year-old still believes that he has something to offer after impressing in France last season.

Meanwhile, West Ham are still trying to finalise a deal to sign Stewart Downing from Liverpool.
