West Ham United are reportedly lining up David Moyes's former assistant manager Alan Irvine for the director of football role at the club.

West Ham United are reportedly considering David Moyes's former assistant manager Alan Irvine as a candidate to become their new director of football.

Manager Moyes committed his future to the Irons by penning a new three-year deal earlier this month, but it is believed an overhaul of the club's recruitment set-up was a key factor in agreeing new terms.

West Ham confirmed in May that Irvine had stepped down from his role as number two to Moyes, but he would remain a key member of the manager's coaching staff, after becoming a technical advisor within the club.

According to Football Insider, Robbie Cooke, who worked with Moyes at Everton and Manchester United, is no longer being considered for the role with the Hammers, leaving the door open to Irvine.

It is reported that Irvine left his role in the dugout due to personal reasons, but could now take up the director of football role which would be more senior to the technical advisor job he has been granted.

West Ham have a Europa League journey to embark on next season, which will be their first appearance in Europe since the 2016-17 campaign.
