West Ham United manager David Moyes confirms that he has been offered a new contract by the club, but he is keen to wait until the end of the season to make a final decision on his future.

West Ham United manager David Moyes has confirmed that he has been offered a new contract by the club.

Speculation over the 60-year-old's future at the London Stadium has been rife for some time, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season.

Moyes celebrated four years in charge of West Ham when he successfully steered the Hammers to a 2-0 win away against Arsenal at the end of December, but the Scotsman has since come under intense scrutiny amid the club's poor run of form.

Indeed, the Hammers have failed to win any of their first eight games in 2024 across all competitions and have lost each of their last three Premier League games by an aggregate score of 11-0.

West Ham were sitting pretty in and around the top six at the end of 2023, with aspirations of a top-four finish not out of the question, buu they have since slipped to ninth in the table, albeit just two points behind the European positions.

Reports earlier this month claimed that West Ham stalled contract talks with Moyes following the club's heavy 6-0 home defeat to Arsenal, raising doubts over his future at the club beyond the current campaign.

However, Moyes has now confirmed that he has received a contract offer from the Hammers hierarchy, but it is the Scotsman who has decided to delay the extension.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday ahead of West Ham's home encounter with Brentford on Monday, Moyes said: "I've had really good conversations with the owners, with David Sullivan and Karren Brady.

"There's a contract there for me and I'm the one deciding I want to wait until the end of the season.

"I want to make sure that everything is correct and, first and foremost, that we concentrate on this season.

"I've really enjoyed by four years here and one way or another I will make sure I see my contract out."

"There are plenty of reasons (for the delay)," Moyes added. "I've got to make sure that it's the right thing for the club, I've got to make sure that it's the right thing for me and my family.

"I've spoken to the board, I've got on really well with them and as I've said, I've had a fabulous four years. We'll sort it out but I'm happy for it to wait."

Moyes memorably led West Ham to Europa Conference League glory last season after beating Fiorentina 2-1 in the final in June to clinch the club's first European trophy for 58 years.

He also steered the Hammers to the Europa League semi-finals and back-to-back top-seven finishes in the Premier League in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns.

Across two spells with West Ham, Moyes has managed 245 games across all competitions, winning 107, drawing 50 and losing 88.
