West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis unhappy with low-key Rickie Lambert

Tony Pulis unhappy with low-key Lambert

Tony Pulis has said that he is pleased with West Bromwich Albion's 0-0 draw at home to Southampton, but was surprised with Rickie Lambert's low-key performance.

Both sides cancelled each other out at The Hawthorns, but the Baggies manager admits to being disappointed with striker Lambert, who earned his third Premier League start following a summer move from Liverpool.

"The way we passed the ball, I'm delighted with a point," Pulis told BBC Sport. "You've got to give the players credit for the way they defended, but we have to do better in possession.

"You don't want to make excuses. I thought Rickie Lambert would have a better game, but he's still a little short."

Lambert has not yet opened his account for the club. Albion, who have won once in five league outings, sit 13th in the standings.
