Tony Pulis 'apologises' to Jurgen Klopp for long-ball style

Pulis 'apologises' to Klopp for long balls

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has sarcastically apologised to Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp for playing more long passes than the Reds is last Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield.

The two managers did not shake hands after the game, with Klopp going on to say Albion "only played long balls" after Divock Origi's deflected 96th-minute strike rescued a point for the home side.

Speaking of Klopp's comments, Pulis told reporters: "It was disappointing, but he's got his opinions and he can say what he wants.

"We apologise. We actually played three longer passes in 99 minutes than what Liverpool played in that game. Sky TV came out with that stat.

"So as a football club we apologise to Liverpool for playing three more longer passes than they did. There's always a bit of spin put on things these days."

West Brom winger James McClean labelled Klopp "a bit of an idiot" after the Reds boss led his players in a post-match celebration in front of The Kop.
