West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley admits that he is disappointed with how the club ended their record-breaking season in the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley has revealed that he is disappointed his side did not reach the 50-point mark in the Premier League this season.

The Baggies finished with a total of 49 points, which is their highest ever in the Premier League. However, after winning just one point in their final four matches, the Northern Ireland international has admitted that his side will be "kicking themselves".

The 33-year-old told the Express & Star: "We got to 40 points ages ago. It seems like an eternity.

"We just couldn't get to 50, unfortunately, so I think when the dust settles in a couple of weeks' time we will be kicking ourselves because we threw points and games away really.

"When you look back over the season we could have been well over 50."

Albion also finished in eighth position in the Premier League, their best effort in seven seasons in the top flight.
