Gareth McAuley says that West Brom are aiming for at least ten clean sheets this season.

West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley has insisted that his side are looking to better their defensive record from last year.

The Baggies have kept two clean sheets so far this campaign after their 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday, adding to when Liverpool failed to score against Steve Clark's side on the opening day.

McAuley, who doubled Albion's lead at the weekend, says that the club are looking to at least match their record of ten clean sheets from last year.

"We've managed two clean sheets so far, we got ten last season and that is the minimum we expect of ourselves this year," said McAuley. "Jonas is massive for us and we hit it off with the partnership straight away, we developed that last season and we're looking to make it even better again.

"It is great but we have done a lot of hard work pre-season, a lot of new ideas, and we are developing that still, as we were during the week. Things have been going well and hopefully that can continue and we can all develop together.

"I'll take the goal but I'm happier with the clean sheet."

Albion currently find themselves third in the Premier League table.
