Michael Appleton backs Saido Berahino to resolve transfer saga

Appleton: 'Berahino saga will be resolved'

Former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Michael Appleton has backed Saido Berahino to resolve his issues with the club.

The 22-year-old has threatened strike action against the Baggies after they refused to let him join Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day.

Berahino's future at The Hawthorns remains unclear, but Appleton is convinced that the striker will patch up his differences with chairman Jeremy Peace and manager Tony Pulis.

"I think it'll get resolved quickly," he told Sky Sports News. "I expect to see him in a West Bromwich Albion shirt in a couple of weeks time. I still believe that he'll play for West Brom again. He'll learn from his mistakes like everyone does."

Berahino scored 20 goals for the Midlands club last season.
