Victor Anichebe was in need of "a change"

West Bromwich Albion striker Victor Anichebe has admitted that he wanted to leave Everton in order to have a change of scenery.

Anichebe said that his career had begun to stagnate at former club Everton and that a move should help him make the step to the next level.

"I felt like a change could give me an added boost," Anichebe told BBC Sport.

"I had a great time at Everton, I was there for 15 years. Of course there were ups and there was downs, but that is all part of life ."

Anichebe has yet to make his West Brom debut.
