Petersen signs permanent Bremen deal

Striker Nils Petersen has agreed a four-year permanent deal with Werder Bremen after the Green-Whites settled terms with his parent club Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old was Bremen's joint top scorer when on loan this season and the club have moved to tie him down for the foreseeable future.

"We're delighted that Nils will be continuing to go for goal wearing the Werder crest over the coming years," sporting director Thomas Eichin told Bundesliga.com.

"He's shown this season that he fits in perfectly here. We know he's got tremendous potential and now with this long-term arrangement, we're confident he can maintain his progress and become a cornerstone of the team in Bremen."

The player was equally pleased to have completed the move that he admitted he hoped would happen last week.

"I've been waiting a long time to get this news and I'm very happy it's worked out the way I'd hoped," he said. "I'll be going into the new season highly motivated and want to play my part in helping us take a major step forwards."

Petersen made 35 appearances for Bremen while on loan.
