Watford skipper Troy Deeney charged with violent conduct after Joe Allen clash

Watford skipper and frontman Troy Deeney is charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following his recent clash with Stoke City's Joe Allen.

Watford frontman Troy Deeney has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following his clash with Stoke City's Joe Allen last weekend.

Deeney and Allen were involved in a scuffle towards the end of Stoke's 1-0 victory at Vicarage Road, after the Watford man had seemingly attempted to cross into the visiting box despite the Potters having kicked the ball out of play following an injury.

The clash during injury time has since led to comments from City boss Mark Hughes, who suggested after the contest that Deeney should be punished for what appeared to be a raising of his hands towards Allen's face.

The Hornets skipper will now have until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charges from the FA.

Deeney has made eight appearances for Watford in the league this season, scoring one goal and setting up another.
