Bruno: 'We deserve first position'

Villarreal midfielder Bruno reveals his delight after the Yellow Submarine moved to the top of La Liga with a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid at the weekend.

Villarreal midfielder Bruno has said that the Yellow Submarine are "quietly savouring" first position in the La Liga table.

Saturday's 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid continued Villarreal's unbeaten start to the new season and moved them onto 16 points, one point ahead of second-place Barcelona.

Marcelino's side have drawn widespread praise for their strong start to the campaign and Bruno has said that those involved with the club are "very happy" to be leading the division at this stage.

"We're quietly savouring and enjoying [top spot]. Beating Atletico is a great achievement for the team and gives us great confidence. We're very happy to be top because it's a great reward for our effort and hard work over a long period," Marca quotes Bruno as saying.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Celta Vigo make up the top four in Spain's top flight following six rounds of fixtures.
