Genoa win thriller against Udinese

Genoa made it three successive wins in Serie A after coming from behind to claim a 4-2 victory over Udinese.

Antonio Di Natale gave the hosts the lead inside the first minute when he was played through on goal by Panagiotis Kone to slot an effort past the keeper.

The visitors looked for a response and Alessandro Matri burst into the box before drilling a low shot straight at the keeper.

In the 21st minute, Genoa equalised through Giovanni Marchese, who fired an unstoppable volley from just outside the box into the far corner past Orestis Karnezis.

The visitors then took the lead three minutes later when Iago Falque slotted home from close range after Edenilson's shot had been saved by the keeper.

Four minutes before the break, Udinese were back on level terms as Di Natale slid a ball through for Silvan Widmer, who then placed a low strike into the far corner of the net.

Matri restored Genoa's lead in the 54th minute when he lashed into the bottom corner after being found just inside the box by Falque.

Just past the hour-mark, Di Natale came close to scoring a third for the hosts, but his low drive went inches wide of the far post. With three minutes of the game left, Juraj Kucka scored a fourth for Genoa when he fired a strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Cyril Thereau headed over the bar from a corner in stoppage time, and that was the closest that Udinese would come to a reply as they slipped to their second defeat of the week.
