Manchester United are reportedly preparing to battle Barcelona for the signature of Rapid Vienna youngster Yusuf Demir.

The forward only turned 17 in June but has made 23 first-team appearances for his Austrian club, scoring four times and contributing three assists in the process.

Demir's agent was recently pictured in Barcelona, fuelling suggestions that the Catalan giants are firmly in the race for the Austria Under-21 international.

According to Kronen Zeitung, there is serious interest from Ronald Koeman's side, but United are also in the hunt for his signature.

Demir, who has also been linked with Ajax, has a contract in Vienna until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

The attacker has contributed one goal and two assists in 10 Austrian Bundesliga appearances this term, while he also scored against Dundalk in the group stages of the Europa League last month.

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Ecuadorian teenager Moises Caicedo from Independiente del Valle.

The 19-year-old has attracted interest from the Premier League following his impressive performances for Independiente, with Caicedo netting six times and banking two assists for the Ecuadorian outfit.

West Ham United were believed to have been interested in the midfielder, but United are supposedly set to win the race for Caicedo's signature in the near future.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Man United are in advanced negotiations with Caicedo's agents and should wrap up a deal for the teenager in the coming weeks.

Romano claims that United will fork out a fee of €5m (£4.5m) for Caicedo, who is set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Old Trafford, assuming that he is granted a work permit.

Meanwhile, agent Mario Cenolli believes that Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba will head to Real Madrid, but Solskjaer believes that the Frenchman could be convinced to stay at Old Trafford.
