Switzerland among top-seeded World Cup teams

Switzerland are included among the top seeded teams for the 2014 World Cup alongside the likes of Spain, Germany and Brazil.

The likes of Switzerland and Colombia have been included among the top seeds for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

The seedings are based on the latest edition of the FIFA world rankings, meaning that there is no place in the top eight for England, who moved up seven places to 10th in the rankings this month.

Host nation Brazil are automatically seeded despite being 11th in the rankings, meaning the joint-eighth teams Holland and Italy miss out on a top seed.

However, the Netherlands could still be ranked among the top eight going into the tournament if Uruguay fail to qualify from their playoff.

Holders Spain, Germany, Argentina and Belgium make up the top seeds, meaning that none of them can be drawn in the same group as each other.
