Garry Monk defends making 10 changes to Swansea City side against Hull City

Garry Monk defends Swansea changes

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has defended his decision to make 10 changes to his side for Tuesday night's League Cup defeat to Hull City.

The Swans were knocked out of the competition after a first-half David Meyler strike, but Monk says that any argument surrounding the number of changes made to the starting lineup is irrelevant.

"We clearly should have won the game, but we didn't do that because we didn't take our chances," he told reporters.

"The changes is not relevant for me; they are all first-team players, they have all played in the Premier League. That argument is a non-starter.

"If we'd played that game 100 times, we would have won 99 of them. We had so many chances, it could have been a cricket score by half time. But we didn't take them and got done by a classic sucker punch."

Swansea are next in action on Saturday, away to Southampton in the Premier League.
