Sunderland sign Michael Simoes Domingues

Sunderland have signed 25-year-old goalkeeper Michael Simoes Domingues from Boavista.

According to a statement on the Premier League club's official website, the Black Cats completed all of the necessary paperwork ahead of the closing of the summer transfer window last week, but needed the deal to be ratified by FIFA.

The statement goes on to explain that Portuguese side Boavista could not sign off on the deal due to "a technical issue", but FIFA has now approved the deal, allowing the goalkeeper to join Sunderland on a two-year contract.

Domingues, who has become Sunderland's 10th arrival under new manager David Moyes, has also previously turned out for Benfica.

The stopper also represented Portugal at both Under-20 and Under-21 level.
