Report: Cristian Rodriguez close to Sunderland move

Sunderland are reportedly on the verge of signing Atletico Madrid winger Cristian Rodriguez.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Spain this summer and it is believed that Gus Poyet is interested in the player.

According to the Daily Mail, Rodriguez's representatives were in London this weekend as they looked to complete a deal.

Rodriguez played in all of Uruguay's matches during this summer's World Cup.
