Report: Stoke City on verge of signing Ibrahim Afellay

Stoke City are reportedly close to signing Netherlands international Ibrahim Afellay.

The 29-year-old is a free agent after leaving Barcelona earlier this summer, having spent over four years at Camp Nou.

Afellay struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot with the La Liga side and has been loaned out to Schalke and Olympiacos in recent seasons.

According to Sky Sports News, the winger is having a medical at Stoke with a view to a move to the Britannia Stadium.

Afellay has won 50 caps for the Netherlands.
