Report: Shay Given to undergo Stoke City medical

Shay Given will reportedly undergo a medical at Stoke City later today, as he closes in on a move away from Aston Villa.

The experienced goalkeeper reclaimed his place in the starting lineup towards the end of last season, having edged out Brad Guzan between the sticks.

However, Sky Sports News claims that the 39-year-old will pen a short-term contract at the Britannia Stadium in the coming days, where he is expected to provide back-up to Jack Butland.

That could mean that Asmir Begovic, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea of late, could be given the green light to depart.

Villa, meanwhile, have recruited former Norwich City shot-stopper Mark Bunn on a two-year deal.
