Jermaine Pennant admits that he would be keen on a move to the MLS after being told that his contract with Stoke City will not be extended this summer.

Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant has admitted that a move to Major League Soccer is an attractive proposition as his contract at the Britannia Stadium comes close to its conclusion.

Pennant's deal at Stoke runs out in May and Potters boss Tony Pulis is unlikely to offer the 30-year-old an extension.

The former Arsenal prospect has struggled for form this season and failed to impress in a three-month loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pennant, who has played on foreign soil before with Real Zaragoza in Spain, now reveals that he would relish a move to the MLS.

He told The Mirrror: "Playing in America is definitely a strong option for me.

"You only have to see the calibre of players there of past and present to see how the league is improving. It is getting stronger with every year."

Pennant has reportedly been told by Pulis that he has no future at Stoke after turning up late for a team meeting last week.
