Stoke City boss Mark Hughes 'hopes to sign a couple more players' before this summer's transfer window closes.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has said that he is "hopeful" of signing "a couple more players" before this summer's transfer window slams shut at the end of August.

Kurt Zouma, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Darren Fletcher, Josh Tymon and Bruno Martins Indi have all moved to the bet365 Stadium since the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

Zouma, Fletcher and Choupo-Moting made their Stoke debuts in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Everton in the Premier League, but despite a busy summer thus far, Hughes is still in the market for fresh blood.

"We need a couple more players if we can, we're hopeful in that regard, but we're not unlike any of the other clubs in and around us so we'll try and make that happen," Hughes told Sky Sports News.

Stoke will look to bounce back from the defeat at Goodison Park when they welcome Arsenal to the Britannia Stadium next weekend.
