Michael Owen is named in Stoke City's matchday squad for the first time since September, as the Potters prepare to face Southampton at the Britannia Stadium.

Michael Owen has been named in Stoke City's matchday squad for the first time since September.

The 33-year-old former England forward, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, will start on the substitutes' bench, alongside Peter Crouch, as the Potters face Southampton at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.

Stoke's starting XI shows two changes following their 3-1 win over Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Ryan Shotton and Matthew Upson come in for Geoff Cameron and Ryan Shawcross.

Meanwhile, Saints boss Nigel Adkins makes three changes following his side's 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Jos Hooiveld, Guly do Prado and Jay Rodriguez replace Steven Davis, Nathaniel Clyne and Gaston Ramirez.
