Stoke City confirm that they have "mutually agreed" for manager Tony Pulis to leave the club with immediate effect.

Stoke City confirmed this evening that the club and Tony Pulis have "mutually agreed" to end the 55-year-old's reign at the club with immediate effect.

It emerged earlier on Tuesday that Pulis would be leaving the club after seven years in charge.

A statement on the Potters' website read: "Stoke City and Tony Pulis confirm that they have mutually agreed that Tony will leave the club with immediate effect."

Stoke managed three wins out of 19 in the second half of the just-finished Premier League season to leave them tangled up in the fight for survival. They ended the campaign in 13th, six points above the drop zone.

Pulis's exit means that Newcastle's Alan Pardew, who has been on Tyneside for under two-and-a-half years, is now the Premier League's second longest-serving manager behind Arsene Wenger of Arsenal.
