Mark Hughes salutes "outrageous" Charlie Adam goal

Hughes salutes "outrageous" Adam

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has praised Charlie Adam for his audacity after scoring from 60 yards in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.

The Scottish midfielder staked his claim for goal of the season by lobbing Thibaut Courtois from inside his own half on 44 minutes with what Hughes described as an "outrageous attempt".

Loic Remy pounced shortly after the hour mark to snatch Chelsea all three points, but the Potters manager admits that he was left purring over Adam's stunner.

"It was an outrageous attempt and thankfully it's gone in," he told Sky Sports News. "At the time I wasn't quite sure what he was attempting, but it became very clear.

"Fantastic vision and technical ability to beat a goalkeeper of Courtois' quality from that distance."

Eden Hazard had earlier stroked the Premier League leaders into a 1-0 lead from the penalty spot.
