Marko Arnautovic: 'Mark Hughes must play Charlie Adam'

Charlie Adam's performance in the 2-0 victory over Sunderland is enough to earn him regular starting berths under Mark Hughes, says Marko Arnautovic.

Stoke City forward Marko Arnautovic has urged manager Mark Hughes to make room in his starting lineup for midfielder Charlie Adam.

The Scotland international starred in the 2-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday, firing the opening goal before turning provider and playing a part in the build-up that led to Steven N'zonzi securing the points.

The visit of the Black Cats to the Britannia Stadium was Adam's first start in three fixtures, and Arnautovic believes that the 27-year-old has made a strong case to retain his selection for future encounters.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Austrian international said: "It was important for him. In the last few games he has not played from the start and now he has showed that he has to play."

The Potters travel to Goodison Park for a clash with Everton on Saturday.
