Stoke City's Jack Butland delighted to make match-winning save against Chelsea

Butland delighted with match-winning save

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland has admitted that there are "not many better feelings" than making a match-winning save in a penalty shootout against Chelsea.

The England international was the hero for the Potters as he stopped Eden Hazard's spot kick to give Stoke a 5-4 win on penalties in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.

"There are not many better feelings than making a match-winning save," Butland told Stoke City Player. "I felt it was a great penalty, it was hit with pace but I managed to go the right way powerfully and managed to get a hand to it.

"Hazard tries to judge what the keeper is doing and make a late decision and I tried to wait as long as I could and thankfully I managed to wait out long enough and stop it.

"The fact it contributed to what was an incredible performance was even better. The lads put an incredible shift in to allow me to have that moment if you like. It's fantastic to celebrate this win with all of these guys and we're in the next round, so we are all very happy."

The result was Chelsea's eighth defeat in 16 games in all competitions.
