Stockport County will be looking for an immediate return to winning ways when they welcome Burton Albion to Edgeley Park for a tasty League One fixture this Saturday.

The Hatters endured their first loss of the season on Tuesday night, while Burton Albion were taken to a penalty shootout in an EFL Cup fixture.

Stockport County appear to have hit their first speed bump of the new season after taking on a couple of tricky games.

The Hatters got off to a flying start, winning their first three competitive games – including a couple of impressive league victories over Bolton Wanderers and Wycombe Wanderers.

Stockport’s winning run came to an end last weekend as Dave Challinor’s men were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by last season’s playoff rivals Leyton Orient.

Just a few days later, the Hatters got their first taste of defeat after going down to a 2-1 home loss against a rejuvenated Bradford City side.

Burton, on the other hand, have enjoyed a mixed set of results in these early weeks of the new season.

A 2-1 victory over Mansfield Town was followed up by a 3-2 defeat at Barnsley – not a bad result considering how well the Tykes have performed in recent weeks.

The Brewers added another point to their league total after playing out a goalless draw with Port Vale last weekend.

Their last outing, however, came on Tuesday in the EFL Cup first round. Burton were taken to a penalty shootout against Tranmere Rovers but came through with a victory, which should boost confidence ahead of their trip to Stockport.

Team News

Stockport are still dealing with a number of injury worries as we head into this weekend’s clash with Burton.

Lewis Bate, Callum Camps, Tayo Edun and Arttu Hoskonen all missed Tuesday’s defeat at Bradford, and the quartet remain doubtful for Saturday.

Burton, on the other hand, are also dealing with a few injury concerns of their own.

The Brewers are expected to be without the injured trio of Jack Hazlehurst, James Jones and Terence Vancooten.
