Former Manchester City midfielder Lee Croft has joined St Johnstone on trial.
The 28-year-old, who has been a free agent since leaving Oldham Athletic in the summer, impressed fans at McDiarmid Park during a brief loan spell last year.
Croft has now returned to the Perth club to train, but manager Tommy Wright is keen to strike a deal with the player.
Wright told reporters: "I spoke with Lee a week ago and asked if he was interested in training with us and he was happy to come up.
"I know the calibre of the player and know what we're getting. Both parties will assess the next few days and make a decision in the next week to 10 days."
Croft made 13 first-team appearances for St Johnstone during his loan spell at the club, scoring three goals.
