St Johnstone, Motherwell crash out of Europa League

Scottish clubs crash out of Europa League

Scotland no longer has any clubs competing in this season's Europa League after St Johnstone and Motherwell both crashed out of the competition.

The Perth outfit were knocked out in disappointing fashion, losing to Belarusian side FC Minsk on penalties following a 1-1 draw on aggregate.

The Saints led 1-0 from the first leg, but lost the shootout 3-2 after Milos Rnic scored the only goal of the return leg at McDiarmid Park.

Motherwell went into their second leg against Russian side Kuban Krasnodar trailing 2-0 from the first leg.

Stephen McManus headed into his own net in the 50th minute of the second leg to hand Kuban a 3-0 aggregate victory.
