Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly unlikely to extend the loan spell of Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale into a second season.

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is reportedly unlikely to spend a second year on loan at Tottenham Hotspur.

Having fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu, the Wales international was allowed to return to his former club for the 2020-21 campaign.

The 31-year-old has made a total of eight starts and three substitute appearances in all competitions, the latest coming away at non-league Marine in the FA Cup on Sunday.

According to The Times, club officials are currently against extending the attacker's stay in North London into a second season.

Bale has featured for just 161 minutes in the Premier League, inevitably leaving the player craving more game time during the next five months.

However, as it stands, it appears that he is on line for a summer return to Los Blancos, where he will have one year left on his contract.
