Gary Lineker disappointed by Andros Townsend injury

Former Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Gary Lineker believes that Andros Townsend's ankle injury is a "real shame".

Former Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Gary Lineker has described Andros Townsend's ankle injury as a "real shame".

Spurs confirmed on Wednesday that the 22-year-old would be out of action for around 10 weeks following surgery.

Townsend was in contention to be part of the England squad for this summer's World Cup, but the youngster will now be forced to miss the tournament in Brazil.

England manager Roy Hodgson will name his provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup on May 12.
