Sam Allardyce "hopeful" Harry Kane will find scoring touch

Sam Allardyce wants to see England's attacking players weigh in with goals to help lift some of the pressure off Harry Kane's shoulders.

England boss Sam Allardyce has admitted that he is "hopeful" of seeing Harry Kane open his scoring account for the season in Sunday's qualifier against Slovakia.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker is under pressure to find the net after firing a blank in his opening three league outings this term, as well as failing to register in each of the Three Lions' last five games.

Allardyce put faith in the 23-year-old when naming him in his starting lineup for the Slovakia clash, but insists that other attacking talents must also weigh in to take some pressure off Kane's shoulders.

"I am hopeful Harry will get going," he told reporters. "But every player in a forward possession it is about them trying to create and score goals. Every attacking-minded player has a responsibility to create, assist or score. It is not just down to one or two players.

"After that, we have got to say, 'What are we going to do in our set plays?' Harry Kane and everybody else on the front line I hope when they get the chance they create a good enough opportunity to score against strong opposition."

Kane last found the net for club or country in the 2-1 pre-Euro 2016 friendly win over Turkey in May.
