Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has claimed that "a healthy dressing room is worth more than 100 hours of tactics".
Reports of divisions in the Spain camp have diminished under Del Bosque's leadership and the former Real Madrid manager believes that a happy squad is a key reason behind their recent success.
"They're kids, all from their father and mother. The better you make them, the more success you have. It's best to humanize the group, reminding them that they are modest people and where they come from," he told El Pais.
"Only 11 can play and there are 23 on the squad. There's always jealousy there. A healthy dressing room is important. If you present sporting strategy and set a target, it puts an end to the jealousy. A healthy dressing room is worth more than 100 hours of tactics. It's good for any business when the employees are happy; in football, if the kids are happy, we win.
"I went for years without speaking to Chupete Guerini, a teammate of mine. But we weren't looking for each other, we just dressed together. On the pitch we got on well, we just never spoke!"
Spain are the current European and world champions.
