Southampton target Davide Astori?

Southampton are reportedly interested in signing Cagliari defender Davide Astori during the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old was believed to have been monitored by manager Mauricio Pochettino last summer before the arrival of Dejan Lovren.

According to Tuttosport, Pochettino could make a move for the Italy international this month after seeing his side concede 20 goals in their last 12 matches.

Cagliari president Massimo Cellino is said to be willing to listen to offers for the player, having previously rejected bids in the region of £12.5m.

Astori has won seven caps for his country.
