Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger relaxed about Nathaniel Clyne's contract

Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger says that he is relaxed about Nathaniel Clyne's contract situation.

Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has claimed that he is working in the "best interests" of the club with regards to Nathaniel Clyne's contract situation.

The 23-year-old, whose deal runs out next year, recently claimed that he will wait until April to make a decision about his future.

Krueger, who has insisted that contract matters are in the hands of Les Reed, has claimed that the club are negotiating with Clyne in the same way that they did with Ryan Bertrand and James Ward-Prowse, both of whom signed contracts in January.

In an interview with the Daily Echo, Krueger said: "Nathaniel Clyne - the only thing I need to know in my position is that those conversations are going on the same line and we are dealing with them the same way, in the best interests of the club, and we stay within our parameters.

"If players understand this needs to be a win-win then I can't think of a better place for players to play - for players who are not at their potential. You would definitely want to stay in Southampton."

The Saints currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.
