Preview: Southampton vs. Wigan Athletic

Sports Mole takes a look at Saturday's Premier League clash between Southampton and Wigan Athletic.

Premier League football returns to St Mary's on Saturday afternoon as Southampton entertain Wigan Athletic on the South Coast.

The Saints pushed champions Manchester City close on Sunday's opener, narrowly losing out 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

Nigel Adkins is expected to name an unchanged lineup, although Jack Cork could be named on the bench as he continues his recovery from a foot injury. Goalscorer Rickie Lambert should also take to the field for the home side.

Roberto Martinez's men lost 2-0 to Chelsea at the DW Stadium on Sunday, but will see this as the perfect fixture to get their season up and running.

James McArthur is struggling to overcome a knock that he sustained against the Blues, while Shaun Maloney is battling to overcome a thigh strain.

Southampton: Davis; Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox; Lambert, Schneiderlin, Lallana; Puncheon, Do Prado, Rodriguez

Wigan: Al Habsi; Alcaraz, Caldwell, Boyce, Ramis; Gomez, McCarthy, McArthur, Figueroa; Moses, Di Santo
