Southampton reportedly hope to hire a replacement for Mauricio Pellegrino before Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final against Wigan Athletic.

Southampton are reportedly keen to hire a new manager before this Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final against Wigan Athletic.

The coastal club announced on Monday evening that they have sacked manager Mauricio Pellegrino.

The Argentine oversaw just five wins in 30 Premier League matches, which has left the club one point above the relegation zone with eight games remaining to secure safety.

According to PA, the Saints are hoping for a quick turnaround by bringing in a replacement before this weekend's cup clash.

Reports have suggested that Kelvin Davis and Dave Watson will take charge of training until an appointment is made.
