Slavia Prague vs. Roma - prediction, team news, lineups

Roma Women will look to record a victory which could help them clinch top spot of their Women's Champions League group when they face Slavia Prague Women on Thursday.

While the Italian side have booked their place in the quarter-finals, Slavia Prague have failed to win any of their five group games.

Match preview

Slavia Prague have been eliminated from the Champions League after picking up just two points from their five matches in the main draw.

Although the side from the Czech Republic have failed to claim a victory in the group stage, they can be pleased with the way that they have competed.

After being edged out 1-0 by Roma in the opening game of the main draw, Slavia Prague lost 2-0 to Wolfsburg, before St Polten claimed a narrow victory due to a stoppage-time winner.

Despite missing out on a draw in their home meeting with St Polten, they managed to pick up their first point of the group stage in the reverse fixture against the Austrian side.

Impressively, Slavia Prague prevented Wolfsburg from claiming a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions last week after holding them to a goalless draw, and they will look to use the confidence gained from that result to pick up at least a point on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Roma have performed well in their first season in the Women's Champions League, with progression to the knockout rounds already secured.

After making their way through qualifying, they began the group stage with victories over Slavia Prague and St Polten, before they played out a 1-1 home draw against Wolfsburg.

However, their first Champions League defeat took place against Wolfsburg on matchday five, with the German champions showing their quality to condemn Roma to a 4-2 defeat.

While Alessandro Spugna's side left Germany empty-handed, they secured their place in the knockout rounds with a comfortable 5-0 win over St Polten last week, thanks to braces from Benedetta Glionna and Manuela Giugliano as well as a strike from Annamaria Serturini.

With Roma sat one point adrift of Wolfsburg, they will only finish in top spot if they beat Slavia Prague and the German side fail to win against St Polten.

Team News

Slavia Prague are still expected to be without the services of Martina Surnovska due to an injury issue.

Denisa Tenkratova and Franny Cerna came into the side for last week's goalless draw with Wolfsburg, and they are expected to retain their places, with Karel Pitak set to name an unchanged lineup.

Kristyna Ruzickova is the only Slavia Prague player to score during the group stage, and she will try to provide a goal threat from the left flank on Thursday.

As for the visitors, Spugna has the majority of his squad available to him, although Lucia Di Guglielmo remains sidelined.

Despite finding the net last week, Serturini could be replaced by Glionna, who came off the bench to score a brace against St Polten.

Valentina Giacinti will look to add to the 11 goals that she has scored in all competitions this season when she leads the line against Slavia Prague.

Slavia Prague Women possible starting lineup:

Lukasova; Vesela, Necidova, Bartovicova, Khyrova; Keene, Tenkratova; Cerna, Kozarova, Ruzickova; Nekesa

Roma Women possible starting lineup:

Ceasar; Bartoli, Wenninger, Linari, Minami; Andressa, Giugliano, Greggi; Glionna, Haavi, Giacinti

We say: Slavia Prague Women 1-2 Roma Women

Although Slavia Prague have drawn their last two Champions League games, we think that Roma will have enough quality to claim a narrow victory on Thursday.
