Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland pens new Sheffield Wednesday deal

Kirkland pens new Wednesday deal

Chris Kirkland today signed a new one-year contract with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

The goalkeeper was out of contract at Hillsborough this summer, but has extended his stay in South Yorkshire with a new deal.

Last season, Kirkland, who has one England cap, made 35 appearances for Wednesday in the second tier.

In 2014-15, he looks likely to be a backup keeper in S6 following yesterday's arrival of Keiren Westwood.
