Late Chris Porter brace secures FA Cup win

Porter wins it for Blades

Sheffield United have beaten Nottingham Forest 3-1 to book a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, thanks to two late goals by substitute Chris Porter.

The first shot was for the home side, but John Brayford's effort was straight at Dorus de Vries.

Forest immediately charged down the other end with Jamie Paterson showing some nice touches on the edge of the box. He went for goal, but scuffed his volley over the bar.

Greg Halford then curled wide as the visitors looked for the opening goal. They didn't have long to wait, however, as Paterson headed in from a corner.

Forest began to dominate the ball after that, but De Vries had to be alert to keep out Steven Scougall's shot. Brayford then fired wide just before the break.

Jamie Murphy missed the target and De Vries had to save a Conor Coady shot in what was a strong start to the second half for the home side.

Paterson had a volley saved by Mark Howard, but United finally found the equaliser when Coady poked into an open net for his third goal of the season.

De Vries then tipped over a Harry Maguire effort as both sides pushed for the winner.

With time running out, Porter came on for Jose Baxter and made an instant impact. Andy Reid handled in the box and the striker slotted in from the penalty spot.

With the home fans still cheering, the ball was crossed in and Porter got his toe to it to guide it in for the victory.
