Sevilla expect manager Unai Emery to stay

Sevilla are confident that Unai Emery will stay as manager, despite rumoured interest from Everton and AC Milan.

Sevilla president Jose Castro has claimed that manager Unai Emery will not be lured away from the club this summer.

The 44-year-old has been linked with AC Milan and Premier League side Everton, who are looking for Roberto Martinez's replacement.

Emery has guided Sevilla to Europa League glory in the last three seasons, but his side missed out on winning the Copa del Rey last weekend following a 2-0 defeat to Barcelona.

There continues to be speculation surrounding Emery's future, but Castro has no concerns.

"The priority is to maintain the players and coaching staff," Castro told Sevilla's official TV channel. "There was a time where we had to sell to grow, now we have the ideal platform and have no need to sell.

"We have an obligation to create a competitive team and we will make the necessary effort to be realistic, but with ambition. The coach has understood out character to perfection. Football is crazy, but he knows how to carry the group, the hours that he dedicates.

"I say this now in success and also at the start of the season. I can tell you that he has said he is not on the market and is not thinking of somewhere else."

Emery took over at Sevilla in 2013.
