Marcus Hahnemann nears Seattle Sounders switch

Former Reading and Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann nears a move to MLS side Seattle Sounders, according to his agent.

Former Reading and Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann is nearing a move to MLS side Seattle Sounders, according to his agent.

The 40-year-old American international is currently a free agent following his release from Everton.

He is now expected to sign until the end of the current MLS season which ends in October, with the option of a further year.

"Marcus and his family are from Seattle and have held a house there the whole time he has been in England so to sign there makes a lot of sense for him," Matthew Buck told Sky Sports News.

"He loved his time at Fulham, Reading, Wolves and Everton but he always wanted to finish his career back in the MLS if it was possible so he is delighted to get signed."

Hahnemann started his professional career in 1994 with hometown club the Sounders before leaving two years later.
