Nick Daws named Scunthorpe United manager until end of the season

Scunthorpe United confirm that Nick Daws has been appointed manager until the end of the season.

Scunthorpe United have confirmed that Nick Daws has been appointed manager of the club until the end of the season.

The 45-year-old was handed a caretaker role when Mark Robins was sacked last month.

Daws has guided the League One club to four wins in five games, and his assistant Andy Dawson will remain as his number two until the current campaign comes to a close.

Chairman Peter Swann told the club's official website: "We've seen what they've done over the period they've been in charge and we have been impressed. They've worked very hard and the players are responding to them and we thought it was really important we kept that in tact and it gives us a chance to still reach the playoffs.

"We've seen a natural course of events, with Nick leading the way with plenty of support from Andy and I think as a duo they work very well together. As a football club, we need somebody to lead the team forward as a manager and between them they are very happy in this situation.

"Andy has been at the club since I've been here and he's improved every year. They're both going to give us everything they've got. I've told them to go out there, play with freedom and try to win as many matches as possible. That's the only way that we'll get into the playoffs and they both certainly know how to win football matches."

Scunthorpe are currently 13th in the league table.
