Gordon Strachan satisfied with Scotland win

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan admits that he was pleased with his side's 1-0 win over Qatar ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland.

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has revealed that he was satisfied with his side's display in their 1-0 win over Qatar on Friday night.

Matt Ritchie scored the only goal of the game just before half time to secure victory for Strachan men's at Easter Road.

The 58-year-old told BBC Sport: "We needed that. Yesterday we did a double training session, morning and afternoon, which you wouldn't normally do before an international game.

"It would have been good if we had been able to play 120 minutes to get the other lads a bit of a game as well. But also you want to win the game.

"This team have beaten Slovenia, Algeria and drew with Northern Ireland, so they are no mugs. It was a bit difficult for us to make a lot of chances because of the lack of height up front. It was a small forward line, so we had to work our way in."

Scotland are next in action against the Republic of Ireland in their Euro 2016 qualifier next week.
